LATIN AMERICAN & CARIBBEAN AQUACULTURE 2025 Puerto Varas, Chile - October 6-9, 2025. LACQUA25 will take place from October 6–9, 2025 in Puerto Varas, Chile, and is the premier aquaculture event for Latin America and the Caribbean, organized by the World Aquaculture Society – Latin American and Caribbean Chapter in collaboration with INTESAL and the Universidad Austral de Chile.

Experts, scientists, producers, and companies from Latin America and the Caribbean will gather at LACQUA25, where various countries will share experiences about their aquaculture systems and jointly address the key challenges facing the future of regional aquaculture.

For the first time, the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) – an international organization committed to promoting excellence in science, technology, education, and the exchange of information for the sustainable development of global aquaculture – will host one of its meetings in Chile. This high-level technical-commercial event will focus on strengthening governance and sustainability in aquaculture, particularly in the context of climate change.

This important conference is organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society (LACC-WAS), in collaboration with the Institute of Aquaculture and Environment at Universidad Austral de Chile (Puerto Montt Campus) and INTESAL (Technological Institute of Salmon). The event will take place October 7–9, 2025, at the Enjoy Hotel Convention Center in Puerto Varas, Chile.

WORLD AQUACULTURE 2025 India – November 10-13, 2025

World Aquaculture 2025 INDIA will take place at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre – Novotel from November 10-13, 2025.   This marks the return of World Aquaculture to India after the successful Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2019 (APA19) event in Chennai. With Aquaculture continuing to grow rapidly in the Asian-Pacific region and particularly in India, the 2025 event is the perfect time for the World Aquaculture community to focus on India again at Hyderabad. We are honoured to welcome Dr. Manuel Barange from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, as a Plenary Speaker. With a distinguished background in aquaculture, he will share his insights and experience that will offer valuable insights to attendees from over 100 countries.  Dr. Manuel Barange is the Assistant Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and Director of its Fisheries and Aquaculture Division. He is an Honorary Professor at the University of Exeter, UK, and a visiting Professor of the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute (CAFS), Qingdao, China. Prof Barange was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Director of Science at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory and Chair of the scientific committee of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). He is a global fisheries and aquaculture expert, with a particular focus on climate and anthropogenic impacts on marine ecosystems and on the role of aquatic foods in ending hunger and poverty. He has over 130 academic publications, and in 2010 was awarded the UNESCO-IOC Roger Revelle Medal for his contributions to ocean science.

His plenary address, aligned with the conference theme "Aquaculture Opportunities, Options, and Optimism," will take place on November 11, 2025, at 9:50 AM.

WORLD AQUACULTURE 2026 Tanzania – Dar Es Salaam – December 1-4, 2026

Dar es Salaam, which can be loosely translated to "haven of peace," is East Africa’s fastest-growing city, with a population of over 4 million inhabitants. It serves as a commercial hub located along a natural harbor on the Indian Ocean and is home to a diverse population, including Tanzanians, other Africans, Arabic speakers, South Asians, and Europeans. The city is strategically positioned along some of the most important sea routes in the world, making it East Africa’s second-busiest port. Dar es Salaam also features several beautiful beaches and provides easy access to the popular tourist destination of Zanzibar, and the renowned world-class safari experiences within its iconic national parks (eg the Serengeti).

Hosted by the government of the Republic of Tanzania, the event will be held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), one of the largest convention centers in Tanzania. The technical program for WA26T will focus on developmental issues, presenting the latest research and advancements in aquaculture both in Africa and globally. The thematic plenary and parallel technical sessions will include submitted oral and poster presentations in English, French, Portuguese, and Arabic. WA26T will also feature an international trade exhibition, industry forums, student sessions and activities, satellite workshops (including training sessions), and various meetings/forums focused on aquaculture development in Tanzania, Africa, and beyond.

The international conference will center around the theme “Aquaculture Driving Blue Transformation.” It will highlight lessons learned from Tanzania and other countries regarding the vital role that sustainable aquaculture plays in building resilient food systems and promoting economic growth.
